Track titles still missing version info

I would be nice if this issue could be fixed, 5 years on

Which album is the problem for you? And is it streaming or bought/downloaded/ripped content?

It happens with streaming content (Qobuz) as well as bought&downloaded content. Here’s some examples:

Acid King EP by Richie Hawtin:
In Qobuz:

In Roon with track metadata set to ‘Prefer Roon’:
acid_king_roon_metadata
In Roon with track metadata set to ‘Prefer File’:
acid_king_qobuz_metadata

The Red Light by Ulver that ends with Ghost Entry and then the Autechre Re-Entry remix (not in library):

Here’s the Kisses remixes EP by slowdive (3 remixes, track 4 is the original):

Thanks for that information; there’s definitely a problem with streaming content titles which we’ll take a look at (as it should have been fixed).

At the moment, version/mix info for local files is hit and miss, depending on the metadata. We do plan to improve this, but I can’t give you any timescales.

@joel Thanks for the quick response.

I think I’ve noticed a change somewhere in the past 6 months, where the track editor will sometimes show different info than what shows up in the main interface. I always come across it when editing remastered release - I don’t like remastering information in my track titles. Here’s an example, on Chocolate and Cheese by Ween:
My Metadata import settings are set to “Prefer file” by default.
When I add the remastered Chocolate and Cheese, Roon shows all track titles as “Track Title (Remastered 2024)”
When I go to the track editor, Roon shows these options:
Ween_1
When I switch to “Prefer Roon”, the main UI shows the track as “Take me Away (2024 Remastered)”

When I then switch back to “Prefer file”, the main UI shows the track as “Take me away”.
So it always takes these or similar steps to get rid of the remastering info, and it doesn’t seem to make sense.

Is this a streaming track or a local track (bought from a streaming service or otherwise).

This is a streaming album.

I’ll let you know if I come across the issue with local files.

I was sure I’ve experienced the issue with local files too (remixes for which the remix credits are missing from the track titles), but I’ve now looked at my local file library and couldn’t find examples

This one is somewhat on Qobuz.

Qobuz album titles are a little bit borked (they seem to get rid of the discriminator and favor releaseTags IIRC which is an array of standardized lowercased keywords)
Qobuz track entities have a “version” string field, stripped out of the “title”. It’s not transformed or anything like releaseTags is

@Eve_Fox The weird part is that Roon doesn’t seem to handle the Qobuz track titles consistently: the track editor shows the track title differently from what is visible in the main UI.

@joel Do you have an update on this?

We’re aware of this; however I can’t give any timescale for when it will be fixed.

No problem, thank you for looking into this & the update!
