hi id like to use my roon on my latop for a few weeks. is there a way to contact my library over the internet, or is it best to bring a copy on HDD and have a new roon running from that? in the latter case, do i need to something to “transfer” the membership, temporarily?
Hi Luke,
At present Roon does not support connecting to a remote core, though some have got it to work via VPN but it’s not for the faint hearted and your on your own support-wise … so I’d recommend just taking a portable HDD with you.
That said this type of connection is on the Roon roadmap, but don’t ask me when.
No worries, with Roon licencing, just install Roon on the laptop and authorise it for that device (this de-authorises the previous device) and your good to go.
…one other thing that occured to me…is it possible to move the database / backup from one installation to the next? Ive made lots of corrections to the metadata, and it would be good to have those corrections in my new (temp) laptop install…
everything is the same on my two storage devices (dir structure etc) they’re just two different drives…
is there a way for ‘reading in’ the corrections from a backup of the first drive (which is identical to the first) to the other drive? eg: changing the drive path within the metadata?
You’ve got to move your Roon database from one computer to the other. The instructions fir that are here.
