Roon is supposed to accept a tune-in URL for live radio; this appears not to be working. I listen to the following UK stations:
BBC 6Music
BBC Radio 2
LBC
and Talk Radio
Please help?

Hmm, they work for me.
Ordinarily I would suspect your codecs but you can play BBC channels which are aac.
Are other, non-BBC, channels OK?
And what are you running the Roon server on?
PS The MP3 streams on those channels are mono - if you use convolution filters the channel mutes - an old bug. (That doesn’t explain your error though)
I’ve tried playing LBC. And it fires up right away.

I’m a Dutchy and living in the Netherlands 
I am using a Roon Nucleus One. The PPC stations work ok, 6 music, radio 2. I type talkradio into the search, and neither the Berlin nor the talkradio works. I can play talk radio on my PC
Weird. Both play fine here.
Strange. Can you play any non-BBC channels?
(Is it a corrupted codec file?).
Sorry for stating obvious, but have you rebooted everything?
