U2 MINI & USB DAC Compatibility

I have a U2 MINI with firmware 17.2. My USB DAC is a Taiwan-made MHDT Orchid 69SE, which connects to the U2 MINI via a DDC (Audio GD DI20HE) using the AES/EBU port. However, connecting my Orchid 69SE directly to the U2 MINI via USB doesn’t work. Before using the U2 MINI, I could stream music with Qobuz from a Mac Mini directly connected to the Orchid 69SE with USB natively. According to the MHDT website, the USB receiver of all their DACs is a C-Media CM6631A chip.

I’ve tried to contact MHDT about this for nearly two months, but unfortunately, I haven’t received any response. Maybe MHDT is no longer in business, and its support service has been shut down completely!

Your thoughts & workarounds are much appreciated! Thanks.

With the DAC connected to Lumin via USB and switched to USB input, and Lumin app set to use USB output instead of SPDIF, post a screenshot of the Lumin app About U2 Mini - scroll down to find the line “USB DAC VID:PID”.

If it doesn’t show, please try the other USB port, with a different computer printer USB cable instead of audiophile USB cable.

Thanks so much for your prompt reply.

Unfortunately, none worked. Could you add the C-Media CM6631A chip in your firmware? Thanks.

CM6631A is supposed to work for PCM music.

Please try using a USB hub with its own power supply, in between the U2 Mini and the USB DAC.

Noted & thanks.
