Description of Issue -

I am trying to get RoonArc to work on a Windows PC and on my iPhone 12. RoonArc does not get a connection to the Roon Core.
Access via wifi works on the iPhone. Access outside the network does not work.

Self port sharing is enabled. The correct port is also entered. We have also manually tested different ports, that doesn’t seem to be the problem.
As already written, we have a public IPv4.

Here the error message:

{
“connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“91.ddd.eee.fff”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“2003:xx:xxxx:xxxx:265e:beff:fe66:e16b”,“router_external_ip”:“91.ddd.eee.fff”},

“upnp_autoconfig”: {“server_ip”:“192.168.xxx.1”,“found_upnp”:true}

Welcome to the Roon community, @Marcus_Fertey.

The diagnostics you’ve provided suggest that UPnP is not properly configured on your router.

Please first try the following steps:

  • Try to enable UPnP/NATPMP in the web administration interface for the router directly upstream from your Core
  • Try to manually open the port in your router’s port forwarding configuration
  • Make sure the IP/Port matches the Port listed in Roon → Settings → ARC
  • Check for any VPNs or Firewalls that might be interfering
  • Check if your modem is in Bridge mode

If you continue to experience difficulties, please tag the support team and include the following information:

  1. What is the make and model of your modem and router?
  2. Do you have any additional network hardware, like additional routers or managed switches?
  3. Who is your internet service provider and what is your geographic region?
  4. Is your Modem configured in Bridge Mode so that it operates only as a modem or do you have the ports forwarded on both?

Have you tried to define the “Freigabe” in the FritzBox manually?
It is quite easy. I use for Vodafone Kabel the following setting:
Freigabe fĂĽr die lokale IP-Adresse, ĂĽber die der Roon-Server erreichbar ist
Protokoll : TCP
Port an Gerät: 56301 (in principle any port as defined in Roon)
Port extern gewĂĽnscht (Nur IPv4): 56301
This should work for Deutsche Telekom VDSL analogously.
Alternatively, one could Talescale VPN to use Roon Arc. There are many post on this concept in the forum.

This assumes that Roon has its own dedicated IP address on the QNAP NAS.
