Unable to view Nucleus USB drive and Marantz Cinema 60 post Windows 11 reinstall (ref#ME1J4R)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· After reinstalling Windows 11 on my laptop, I can no longer view my Roon Nucleus storage device (USB drive attached to the Nucleus) and Roon is no longer seeing my Marantz Cinema 60 (my other devices including a Cambridge Audio CXN and Dac Magic 200 are working fine). I used to access the storage device with the \\Nucleus prompt.

Tell us about your home network

· xFinity modem. eero mesh network, multi port ethernet hub. The Nucleus is plugged into the multiple port hub as is the CXN. The DacMagic connects directly to the Dell Laptop which connects to the wireless network. The Marantz connects through the wireless

Hi @Robert_McCarthy,

Reinstalling the OS will often remove the Roon executables from the Microsoft Defender safelist.

Please try adding RoonServer.exe, RAATServer.exe, RoonGoer.exe, RoonAppliance.exe to the safelist per these steps:

Is the Xfinity modem in Bridge mode, or still functioning as a router? It’s worth verifying that it’s not creating a separate subnetwork to which some WiFi devices are still connecting.

You might also want to check that the Eero network hasn’t allocated a mesh node to a separate subnetwork or a dedicated class-c block with restricted multicast settings. Our diagnostics indicate that the laptop is likely on a separate subnet from at least some of these other devices.

These steps will be under the Verify IP Address Allocation section here.

Let us know if this helps. We’ll watch for your reply.

Thank you connor. Will give those things a try and let you know.

Hi connor. I added the executables and the Marantz is now showing up and working fine. I still can’t reach the Nucleus with the \\Nucleus prompt. What should I try next? Thank you.

I suspect that reinstalling Windows 11 has increased SMB security again. See this article on how to fix it. If you have Windows 11 Pro start at step 6; if you have Windows 11 Home, go to step 8.

@Robert_McCarthy ,

Please review the article shared by @Geoff_Coupe, as it covers a crucial step for Windows 11 machines.

We also suggest trying to use the IP address of your Nucleus instead of its hostname.

Please let us know if this resolves the issue.

Thanks.

Connor and Alex

The steps in Connor’s note worked. I can see the Nucleus and attached drive again.

Thank you!
