(added: The dined part:)
No music at the restaurant.
For those who like heavy, noticeably oaked Chardonnays, Planeta from Sicily is a true insider´s tip. Not cheap, but still modestly priced, compared to the more famous wines of similar style, originating from California and Burgundy. True aficionados enjoy it not overly chilled, in special glasses, looking like a white wine glass at the bottom and a bigger red wine one on the upper end, solely made for oaked Chardonnays and nothing else (Riedel Sommelier series in this case).
Another secret is Peter Gabriel´s upcoming album O/I, which is release single by single on a monthly base. Each of the five tracks has been, as known from the previous album I/O, released in two mixes, dark and bright. Highly recommended!
There’s a brilliant drinks writer called Hans Offringa who has written books about pairing spirits with music. “Whisky & Jazz”, “Bourbon & Blues” and finally “Rum & Reggae”. They’re all good, but “Whisky & Jazz” is probably the best one.
Nice! Thanks for sharing.
a Kingston negroni variation with Cynar for father’s day:
1 oz each dark rum, Cynar, sweet vermouth.
Have to firstly say, the UK is currently blessed with some super hot weather. Let’s make hay whilst the sun shines!
After 10pm, still light. Sitting in the garden, listening to the new Beth Orton ( it’s lovely). Worked hard today in the house, so rewarding myself with some basic rocket fuel. Vodka - Red Grape juice - diet Lemon/lime aid.
Cheers all. Good weekend ![]()
Opting for something unusual tonight:
This looks like a more intense rosé wine, but it is not. In Frankonia they call it ´Rotling´, in some other regions ´Schillerwein´, which means a Cuvée of red and truly white grape must, being blended prior to fermentation. Despite the darker color, it is advisable to drink it as chilled as light and fruity white wine.
Choosing some crossover recording to accompany that: Bernstein´s ´West Side Story´, arranged by David Grusin, as jazzy and latin-poppy as can get. Fun stuff with horns!
Only one point for that “pint”…![]()
Last night.
Actually got this and my wife’s drink for free, because they forgot about us for a good fifteen minutes after taking our order. All good in the end.
@Holger_Hellwig Great band, great album!
Consuming a bottle of supermarket quality Merlot tonight. It’s been sat around for months, so, here we go. Cheers!
But what’s the drink?
