I think you will enjoy it. And yes, creative retelling is what Ben Myers does best. His ‘Gallows Pole’ uses similar techniques. ‘King’ David Hartley speaks in a broad 1700’s Yorkshire dialect…which is fun to try and decipher! It’s a tremendous book

I always hated the process of shuffling books to create space for a new one in it’s proper place, everything alphabetical off course . It was the same with vinyl.
Calibre is the Roon of the ebook world it too is magic

I stopped using an e-reader some years ago. You can’t beat spending a couple of hours in an independent bookshop to find something you may have missed online.
This is my Cretan holiday selection, which I purchased in Holt, Norfolk earlier in the summer.
Nowadays, I keep exceptional books, and donate the others to charity.

My target this year is 365 books, did 240 off last year. I’m slightly under target with about 60 read so far but a lot of them were 600 page jobs. The joys of retirement.
I converted to a Sony Ereader in 2008 due to the quantity of books needed when I was travelling for work. And going on family holiday, half a suitcase of books does not go down well with the stuff for two kiddies to pack

My wife reads three books a year. Each to their own pace, no one is better than anyone else in reading.
Apart from those who don’t read at all of course 
I just came from a family of readers and started young.
There are downsides of course, I can concentrate on the book OR the music but not both. So sometimes reading goes out and music rules.
I did slow down a bit in February as I listened to a series of audiobooks, which take a longer to listen to than read.

Same for me. I can’t write or code or generally concentrate and listen to music at the same time.

I keep trying various types of gaming but it’s just not for me. Monument Valley is the only game I’ve spent any time on.

Ditto a Sony eReader but for my 60th in 2010, short of some travel books ad recipe books I haven’t read a paper book since. I have since used Kindles I am on No.3 having lost one in the midst they do last really well. I remember holidays where one suitcase was nearly all books inevitably me ‘n her didn’t share tastes in reading so there were 2 sets !!

The “big clear out” pre house sale cleared the house of books and ugly bookcases
we are now a media free zone , books, CDs, vinyl, DVD , the only exception is my Bond Movie box set BUT I no longer have a DVD player
I am not up to @ged_hickman1 ‘s rate of reading , maybe 2 a week , even retired finding time is still a challenge. I am university trained to read and listen simultaneously . My noise kept other’s noise out at least it was noise I could choose
