What do I do after installing the server on a Linux desktop?

I’ve installed Roon Server on my Arch desktop, but …what do I do now? I also grabbed Roon ARC for my Android phone, but it says “No Roon Servers found”. How do I adjust any settings on the server?

You need to run the full client from a Windows or Mac PC, or iOS or Android tablet; not a phone. The phone UI is not complete and lacks options that exist in the full client. ARC is NOT the standard client, it is a remote playback app that cannot manage the server.

Then you can complete the setup needed for ARC which does not run “out of the box”.

If you don’t have one of those devices, then you can try and run the client under Wine or Bottles, instructions for doing so can be found by searching the Tinkering section of the forums, since that is not officially supported.

Can I run the client on a second Linux machine? I installed Roon Bridge on my laptop, but as with the server, I don’t see anything I can actually interact with.

I’ll try using Bottles to run the client software; I’ve posted in the Tinkering section; thanks for the redirect.

Although the Roon app for a phone is limited than a desktop or tablet app, it sill does offer some configuration settings for the server (at least the iOS version does). It should help you to get started.

But as pointed out before, Roon ARC is not the same as Roon. So make sure you first get the Roon app, not Roon ARC.

I tried that, but even though the regular Roon app sees my server, it can’t connect.
