‘What Have We Learnt Over the Years BEFORE & AFTER Buying Gear’

Over the years I wince when I add the total cost of spend … What would I tell my 18 year old self?

Exposure to Music is #1. That is a given.

Go see more bands while and when you can!

Ha ha … straight of the Bat. Yup, Must admit I prefer to listen to Jazz & Blues LIVE! over the HiFi. Just so much atmos and humanity is added! for instance.

Nothing…

I still spend way too much money :joy::joy:

Yes, Yes, Yes. And some of the best shows I saw were not even that well planned…just wanted to see a live show and they were available (for example, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in a small club in 1974 (before I’d heard of him), Tim Buckley in early 1970s, etc. Live music is the best (and I’m really missing it right now).

Yes and if I have learnt nothing else in the last few years it’s that unfortunately the older bands aren’t lasting forever. You may never get the chance to see some of them.

I’ve always been a researcher of purchases and the internet has made this easier. I’ve never regretted waiting a little longer and reading a little more. I tend to start researching the subject first then read as many reviews as you can…

Takes me ages to buy gear, but that’s the idea…
