What is going on with the forum?

Is this happening for other users when accessing the forum?

Same for me - for at least 16 hours.

The forum has been practically unusable with multiple gateway (504) and server (502) errors and pages and posts frequently failing to load.

Feels like DDOS attacks?

Been bad for me for the last 12 hours.
Surprised nothing was posted earlier and was thinking it was just me.

I knew it wasn’t me because it is happening on my laptop computer connected to my home WiFi and my phone connected by my 5G cellular connection. Both systems are working for everything else that I have tried.

in germany the same

Now that it works again, the forum UI changed I suppose it was a version update that went wrong

I heard it was a DDOS attack

OK. Really a worthwhile target!

Is it self hosted? Other Discourse forums were fine

Nevertheless the UI changed

Yes, things looks smaller :magnifying_glass_tilted_left:

Apparently - at least Safari on iOS - the editor inserts additional paragraph spacing whenever you press Enter. That is, you can’t start a new line on purpose without starting a new paragraph, too. I hate that.

I don’t notice anything smaller, though.

I see

What you mean

Not smaller, just different especially on notifications.

This is usually the result of a Discourse update itself.

The paragraph spacing is terrible if

you just wanted a newline

:waving_hand: Hello everyone,

We’re sorry for the recent disruption to our community forum. It can be frustrating when access slows down or becomes unreliable, especially when you’re in the middle of a conversation or looking for support.

What happened was a high-volume surge of automated traffic that affected several services simultaneously, not just the community forum. Our first priority was normalizing the core services so that everyone could continue to enjoy their library without interruption. Once that was stable, we focused on bringing the forum back to full performance.

Services should now be fully restored and operating normally.

We’re actively monitoring the situation and putting stronger safeguards in place to reduce the likelihood and impact of similar events going forward.

Thank you for your patience. We really appreciate you being here.

It wasn’t just you. I had trouble signing in last night from both my iPad and my PC. As was stated, it should be back to normal. Seems good today at I’m on my 5G connection from my phone.

Nothing to be sorry about @beka . It happens.

I bet Team Roon are relieved all is back to normal and the folks in the Support team haven’t got too much of a backlog in support requests.

Anything in iOS and discourse has been a nightmare since ios26. The discourse app is no help either. I asked discourse about post composition and editing problems a while back and they said in so many words it’s apple, wait for them to update. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Discourse was right about that and the weird editing and cursor/button placement bugs have been fixed with iOS 26.2.

But that’s a different problem than entering additional paragraph spacing when pressing Enter as it does now in the new Discourse version.

And it does that on macOS, too, but on macOS you can use Shift+Enter to create a new line, while Enter is a new paragraph - which is actually always the case, but people don’t usually notice, because most software does not create additional spacing for new paragraphs.

However, I don’t know a way to make this distinction on iOS, and I suppose most people don’t.

Seems like the rich text editor now works just like in Microsoft Word: let me show you -

Sentence 1

Sentence 2
Sentence 3

Between sentence 1 and 2: a normal <Enter>

Between sentence 2 and 3: a <SHIFT><Enter>.

It’s the difference between a new paragraph and a new line.
