What is the latest concert you've been to? [2016-2019]

You’re a lucky man, she’s got a wonderful voice.

Going to hear Nels Cline @ SFJAZZ tomorrow, on his “Lovers” tour.

Last night we hosted Amy Westney, Dahlia, Kelly Sloan and Liv Austen. Unfortunately, due to illness Balsamo Dieghton had to cancel last minute. This is where Amy and Liv stepped into the breach.

Anyways, this was an amazing night of independent live music.

Just back from an afternoon recital given by Wibi Soerjadi in a small hall in a small town in an out-of-the-way part of the Netherlands. Wonderful to hear him play live, seated at the piano just two meters away - like attending a salon recital. I never got to hear him at Carnegie Hall, and I never thought I’d get to hear him just a 10 minute bicycle ride from our house…

Last month, I saw ARW (Yes) performing at Symphony Hall in Birmingham (UK).

Next week, I will see Dream Theater performing at Symphony Hall in Birmingham (UK).

AND THEN FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT…

The Jesus and Mary Chain. Didn’t particularly do it for me but certainly the crowd seemed to lap it all up. One for the über fans I think.

Leftfield doing Leftism 22 last night at Brixton Academy.

Amazing that Leftism was released 22 years ago. A huge album in the history of EDM.

Fantastic night.

Just enjoyed Brooks Williams with Sally Barker on their first gig as a new collaboration. They were amazing together. Sally has an amazing voice too.

Anat Cohen and Trio Brasileiro at Kuumba in Santa Cruz: great choro for the 21st century!

Oooooh would have liked to see that. Still, I was lucky to get to one gig:
Sasha, ‘Refracted’, tonight at the Barbican.

First half from Scene:Delete, second half some earlier stuff that got everyone up off their seats (thankfully the Barbican ushers finally gave up trying to get people to sit back down).

Nice mix of electronic, vocalists, and an unexpected string section and some interesting percussion.

Great seat next to the mixing desk. Only thing I’d like to change is to get some better earplugs. I’m using some ACS ones that were recommended but they do muffle the sound a bit and this time they had some weird resonant type vibrations too. I hear the moulded ones are better but are quite expensive. Earplugs are a fairly recent addition, since I’ve got the onset of tinnitus from too many clubs, gigs, parties etc in my youth so time to try and save what’s left of my poor ears…

I did pop them out a few times to get the full impact - which was absolutely incredible. Deep rumbling bass through your feet and soul, cracking electronic beats and pretty decent separation of all the various sounds. Got a bit hectic towards the end but all in all really well sorted out sound on a great system.

Just saw Manhattan Transfer with their 45th Anniversary concert at the Bluenote. They are still swinging.

“Operator get me Jesús on the line” brought the house down even more than the Bridland finale.

Wonderful trip down memory lane.

Monday evening. Eddie Vedder in Amsterdam with Glen Hansard. Absolutely wonderful. It was a strange evening, with Eddie being clearly very emotional on the dead of Chris Cornell. Without mentioning his name once, he referred to it on numerous occasions.

This one I won’t forget …

Jealous :unamused:

Hope they will come to Europe anytime soon.

Not the latest gig I went to, but one of the best in recent memory. Chris Cornell solo in Bristol on 30th April 2016 - my view from the front row. A huge talent and extremely sad loss.

was at the Saturday night show and it was one of the best gigs that I have ever attended, the pianist Thomas Bartlett was such a force.
