I don’t always know the musical connections, but after hearing the Average White Band live last November, I now more fully grasp their influence on music, their role in the title track of this album, and the genius of Arif Mardin.

Chaka Khan has one of those voices that is immediately exciting to hear, utterly thrilling in its range and power, and deployed here on some great music. Whilst the title song is my favourite, the opening ‘We Can Work It Out’ is brilliant, perhaps Saturday nite fare, and there is so much to enjoy. MQA, in 192k, affords it a truly thrilling musicality, that makes you just want more.

Truly wonderful music and performance. Sounds pretty good too; as it’s a modern 192k mastered Classical recording, they probably captured it on Merging ADCs, which I can attest to sounding pristine.
