The review says it all…

Patrick Hawes ‘Towards the Light’

Ok, so I’m not really a classical guy so to speak (and I know this isn’t really classical in the, er, classical sense), but this is one of my favourite piano pieces and I play it a lot. Ok, the play counts are skewed because it’s music for the baby (unborn, born, asleep, etc) so has been on loop often. (Track 7, Stargazer, has a play count of 592 right now, but is still one of my favourites).

Anyway I can happily listen to this repeatedly. I love its simplicity.

So, to all you classical and piano types out there, and especially anyone that knows this album - what can you recommend me that’s similar?

I’ve listened to a few Eindaudi, and Philip Glass a while back and wouldn’t remember what albums the latter were.

Thanks!

They were playing “The Land of Make Believe” on a show about Pop on the radio. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

A good antidote for the fizz.

Give their 2012 release Amanke Dionti a try as well…

Funny, @stevev1, you’re playing some of my summer favorites in the middle of the winter! I have this split personality: (predominantly) world music in summer and jazz, classical, blues, folk and singer/songwriter in winter.:smirk:

…Although I must confess that this afternoon, when some sun rays came shining in, I put on Buena Vista Social Club

Well I couldn’t have this avatar if I didn’t like the Fall.

The 3 stars in the review don’t do this justice. Must change it in 1.3 but I’ve done my last backup until that arrives.

Mr Pharamacist !

Prompted by your Ellington / Hodges post in the Favourite Album thread, spent some time revisiting the two albums below

In case you need to be tempted in, go directly to Track 19 ‘Diminuendo’…or the Live version of ‘Jeep’s Blues’

Fun jazz, rather than Cool Jazz…but very much a time and place for both IMHO
