Strange as it may seem, this is my first listen to the Grateful Dead, on this an album from a job lot.

I somehow expected it to be more “out there” from what I’ve read about them over the years.

A very enjoyable mix of The Band, CSN, Lovin’ Spoonful is what I’m hearing.

Skeletons definitely doesn’t give you anywhere close to the real Dead, 3 minute cuts of their more popular songs that Warner had the rights to. If you want a better first experience try Europe '72. If you want something a little more ‘out there’ then try Live Dead. If you want studio material than go with American Beauty or Workingman’s Dead. If you’re interested after those then come back and I’ll be happy to give you a good starters list.
