Reminds me of the Ken Burns documentary series (PBS) on the Vietnam War that I watched recently.
That harrowing RATM front cover actually taking place on film pre the war as one of the thousands of pieces of footage used.
Totally compelling though very distressing and nothing held back visually the whole series
Anyway I mention as until a few weeks ago I never fully understood the story behind the picture.
Whenever I think about what Thích Quảng Đức is doing it sends shivers up my spine, more so when you see the full picture, life is still going on around him and the photographer is obviously just standing there taking the picture.
