Agreed- Recent rediscovery for me after noticing the 20 year re release of the Black Light. Nice getting such a back catalogue to explore
They remind me a bit of Spoon obviously more down tempo - Cerebral US alt rock with consistent quality over 20 years+
Just tried listening to Jools Holland Marc Almond and was wondering where allthe Bass is? It’s not on the tracks I just tried to the point I won’t listen further.

Yeah, this album has a strikingly poor sound quality (24/96 Qobuz stream). 
Also in MQA. Just no bass to speak of.
