A good evening’s listening whilst cooking and eating.
I’ve really gotta chuckle…it was only as I listened to the album yesterday prior to posting that I thought to myself - it’s Kurt. I’ve never heard the album or Angus described that was previously. And here you are likewise agreeing. Perhaps it’s that echo on his voice? I can’t quite nail it.
Cheers!
Sparklehorse
Good Morning Spider (1998)
One of the more underrated bands of the 90’s dominated by the likes of Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, The Flaming Lips etc. I for one preferred this band, until the untimely death of the lead singer Mark Linkous in 2010.
It seems we have some similar taste…!
“For me, the Ballads of the English (and Scots) speaking peoples are story telling as its stark, urgent best. As you listen - for these are songs in which poetry and music are equally important - feel the wind and rain, see the Hunter’s moon rise and catch an echo of hooves on the night air.”
June Tabor
June Tabor is one of the best; together with Maddy Prior they’re wonderful.
I know this one too…
Thanks !
The sun is shining today in Vienna and it’s time for some reggae. This one ended up in my library after Roon suggesting it to me. Very interesting album. Hypnotic in its own terms. A bit different but really cool.
100% agreed. A great album.
