I was late to the party on Cat Power. So glad I found them in 2020. One of the few bright spots of that year.

Thank you for that; I wasn’t aware of this series!!

Edit:

This is quite impressive!! Those Alsatian Silbermann organs are just wonderful, and the recording quality is impressive.

Here the blurb from Aeolus Records’ website:

Is it just me or do they sound almost like they’re recorded out of phase? Something a little odd sounding about the recording. A little too artificial width?

Other than that, they are good sounding recordings.

I am listening to Vol.1 and don’t notice that. I’ve read on the label’s website that they did record 5-channel and, independently, 2-channel sound
I have no experience whatsoever with sound engineering, but I can imagine that recording a church organ in its vast resonant space must be quite a challenge!

There are 19 SACD in this collection and I am looking forward to listening to all of them

Have you listened to Marie-Claire Alain’s analogue recordings from 1959-67? I find the sound quite amazing
and she was a superb Bach interpreter
These Erato recordings are on Tidal, both as MQA 96kHz and (thankfully) as 44.1/16 Flac.
