I think it was @wkimbel87 who recently posted an album with vocal music by the Czech Baroque composer Jan Dismas Zelenka (1679–1745). And I began this day’s listening with trio sonatas by Vivaldi, and will end it with another set of trio sonatas—those by Zelenka, scored for two oboes, bassoon and continuo, or violin+oboe, bassoon and continuo.
You will certainly find the music surprisingly beautiful, and the interpretation by Heinz Holliger (oboe), Klaus Thunemann (bassoon) and Thomas Zehetmair (violin) second to none. This is a wonderful album worthy to be kept in frequent rotation.
