Just found and listened to this.
Brought back a lot of memories and nostalgia.
This is how my mind works.
Yeah, I don’t understand it either.
Insane in the membrane…
This 2007 release by Hélène Schmitt is interesting due to two aspects. First, newly discovered music by Schmelzer has been recorded for the first time. When Andrew Manze recorded in 1996 his well-known album, these pieces still were not available. Second, Jörg-Andreas Bötticher uses a claviorganum for the continuo accompaniment, and that is an instrument featured only very rarely.
The playing is compelling, and the sound, as accustomed from Alpha, superb.
Crazy insane, got no brain!

Stirring and emotional performance.
This may well be one of the very best albums to introduce a listener to the topic of 17th century instrumental music, specially violin music. The programming of the album is outstanding, and so is the playing of Ms. Tur Bonet and her ensemble Musica Alchemica. And while providing exceptional music-making, Pan Classics team has done an excellent job to record an audiophile gem. Warmly recommended!
