I am partial to the 2019 remix of this classic.
These days I have come across a curiosity which I had never paid attention to. Vivaldi apparently had invented a modified violin with three strings and a metal device on the bridge which imitated the sound of the tromba marina or nuns’ fiddle.
On his 2015 release of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, the English violinist Adrian Chandler included two concerts by Vivaldi scored for this modified violin. This same year, an interesting article about Chandler’s efforts to recreate this modification appeared on The Strad:
The Spanish violinist Lina Tur Bonet included on her wild and unmissable 2018 release with the original version of Vivaldi’s most virtuoso concert ‘Il grosso Mogul’ one of these two concerts, playing also on a modified violin.
Really great album fantastic recording too. Cheers for reminding me, listening now.
No problem, I saw this posted several months ago, purchased it and have been a fairly regular listener since. How have I missed this all my life
One of the reasons I frequently visit the listening thread’s.
Well, you can only listen to one thing at a time, unless you’re @AceRimmer who I suspect divides listening duties between ears to double productivity.

This is a glorious listen BTW.
Edit Perhaps a DSP feature request for Roon, play a mono mix of two tracks, one to the left channel and one to the right in order to clear excessive listening backlogs??
