Giulia Nuti’s first solo album, released in 2014, is a gem and rightly was awarded with a Diapason d’Or. She plays on a 17th century instrument, rebuilt and modified by Taskin around 1788. The repertoire invites us on a journey of discovery of widely unknown composers and pieces of music from a time when harpsichords went soon out of fashion, to be replaced by the fortepiano.

The playing is delightful, and the music quite surprising—just listen to Johann-Gottfried Eckard’s beautiful and tender keyboard sonata Op.1/1…
