Last night I listened to this new release by Anthony McGill and the Pacifica Quartet… I liked it!
I once liked the Bräutigam interpretations well enough, but on the whole and maybe after listening too much at once, I feel that interpretations on a modern piano are more satisfying. What I would very much like, though, is a good version of the Haydn sonatas played on a harpsichord…
That was my favourite when I was still on spotify
first thing to listen on my tidal account (after Schuberts Adagio from Quintet in C major)
When I struggle to find something to play, I always revert to this album. It’s my ‘go to’ palate cleanser. Fascinating record.
@ged_hickman1 Is that the Roundhouse?
Always nice to see it on the left as you approach Euston rail station.

Indeed. My ears got totally destroyed in 2008 watching/listening to My Bloody Valentine. Last time I was there was I think 2020, to see Nick Mason. Nice pictures ![]()
This is brilliant!

Just the live discs today.

Round house is fab as long as your not near a pillar. Slowdive killed my ears in 2017 not been the same since.
MBV did that to me in 1992 at the Ritz in Manchester. Never heard anything that loud.
Mad isn’t it. Even now I don’t get the same enjoyment from their music unless I listen at super loud volume. Nowadays it’s kept to headphone listening. They are probably the reason I have the whistling in my ear syndrome ![]()
Ritz is a good venue. Nice bouncy wooden floorboards.
One of my all time favourite gigs was the first time I saw The Wedding Present playing there in the late 80’s was an amazing evening. Also used to meet my best mate there for Student night. I’d drive up and stay over at his for the night, I wasn’t a student but still got in without an NUS card.
Tommy / Bizarro time?
