Look also for the recordings made by Walter Olbertz in the 1970s… the complete 12 CD-collection is available on Tidal and also on Qobuz. The playing is far less romanticizing, but still suitably expressive. The recording quality is very fine for these analogue recordings. In fact, of the older complete cycles, this may just be the most recommendable…

I also love the Haydn sonatas and own the McCabe and the Buchbinder, of which I prefer the McCabe. I also own the Brautigam, to which I return most often. I also like Brautigam’s complete Beethoven and Mozart sonatas.
