Itās strange, isnāt it? Classical recordings usually mention the conductor, as he/sheās the leading figure when it comes to the specific interpretation of the score. I was just wondering. Especially in the case of Ravelās Bolero, thereās an incountable amount of recordings, so details do matterā¦
Iām still OOH, but I also wanted to say I didnāt see Tom Jones coming.
Now I havenāt listened to any of my Robert Cray albums in some time
But I donāt have this one and I see it on Qobuz at 24/192
While most are familiar with the Vietnam War protest song that won this group widespread recognition, their first album, in particular the mono version, is a nice listen. I have Roon to thank for inspiring me to go back and explore the entire catalogues of some of those classic artists.
Edit: I forgot to mention that this is a quad version that Iām listening to. It brings a surprising freshness to an album Iāve heard a gazillion times.
His best album by far IMO.
Yes as I am now reading.
I didnāt discover him until Donāt be afraid of the Dark.
Itās up next in the queue so will probably get played while I have my morning coffee.
Thanks for the recommendation
RIP.
@Andreas_Philipp1, I was in need of a change of pace. This is very nice and quite beautiful. Thank you and @Grump for the recs.
Edit: @Andreas_Philipp1 I also wanted to thank you for this rec. Finally getting around to listening to it for the first time.
You are so right @Grump about conductor and just isnāt mentioned. I believe it is a mid-century recording, but not much in the credits. I went to my standby for comparison, Dudamel conducting Wiener, and I think itās a better recording.
