Love Mark Knopfler⦠mainly for sentimental reasons⦠and from time to time I celebrate a Knopfler afternoon at my placeā¦
Your description of this album is spot on.
Iāll add that sheās the author of Hadestown which is a phenomenon unto itself. The smartest and most engaging musical Iāve seen.
From time to time curiosity gets the better of me and I listen to an album I know nothing about. This I found likable⦠could grow on meā¦
Hmmm, not sure why I havenāt just trusted @Simon_Arnold3 and given it a play yet. He holds it in high regard but Iāve got it into my head that I wonāt like it for some reason. Iāll have to ply myself with a drink or two this weekend and give it an unbiased listen.
Edit Iāve just seen @Andreas_Philipp1ās comment now ![]()
Thatās what I did⦠have a drink or two⦠now everything sounds wonderful⦠old audiophileās trickā¦
Maybe youāll hate it. You probably will. If you do, blame @Simon_Arnold3.
That drinking trick does work. Works for music and extended family. Particularly helpful during the holidays.
Most definitely. And it is so much more enjoyable and affordable than handcrafted wooden orbs with gemstone coreā¦
Youāve not met my extended family and no one wants to visit A&E during the holidays. Will definitely imbibe before listening, might help me ignore the looming glowing tree as wellā¦
I had to look up A&E. Your situation sounds worse than mine.
You seriously might hate this album - no idea how broad your tastes are but itās folky and fairly twee. My tastes are broad enough for their to be room for this sort of thing. Stuff like this also helps keep my blood pressure under control in contexts like some of the threads around here. Itās good for that.
You trusted me on Cassandra Jenkins.
Itās a lovely album. One that can be listened to top to bottom, as they say.
I was an admirer of Hadestown, but this album is so sweet. Gutted that she was in my area this year (August) and I was otherwise engaged ![]()
I think falling snow and volume may help the listening experienceā¦plus the obligatory alcoholic drink.
Yep love Hadestown and I hate musicals and Bonny light Horseman or anything she crops up in really.
