I deleted my own post. Well⌠I need a larger phone⌠or go to bed.

Sound quality is terrible. But there are not many bass players that are as virtuous and expressive as Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen.
My favorite Monk album. On the second track after Monks solo you hear him shout Coltranes name. The saying is that Coltrane had fallen asleep and Monk had to alert him for going for his solo. If this is true I donât know. It is a good story anyway.

I really wanted to hear the 12/5/71 Show as I had a bootleg on cassette long ago.
I no longer have the cassette. ![]()

The never very popular Grant Lee Phillips. Unfortunately for Grant his music has never really caught the attention of the masses, like his Grant Lee Buffalo albums; most notably Fuzzy in the early 90âs.
I feel that he sits just on the outer, like artists before him such as Nick Love/Graham Parker, Robyn Hitchcock et.al, that quickly come to mind. Theyâve all flirted with popular success, yet despite being lauded by the press time and time again they mostly never break out beyond their strong supporter base. I canât say that I am a devout fan, yet every time I decide to play one of his albums, I typically feel the same way: I canât truly understand how some artists rise to prominence, whilst others it seems are forced to plod along. No doubt much has to do with marketing and the push by labels.
Grant has barely released a weak album; some may say this is his best effort (I donât think so
)

Grant Lee Buffalo
Fuzzy (1993)
I must say: sound quality seems rather poor (nearfield listening - using my newish recording monitors). Itâs the kind of sound that gave digital/cdâs a poor wrap back then. Best way to describe it - thin!

Grant Lee Phillips
The Narrows (2016)
Not overly a fan of the straight up ârockâ of the few tracks like Rolling Pin, otherwise a solid âlightly styledâ Americana album, with typically plenty of minor keys!

Iâd like to thank: the interwebbie, Google, pre-FM Patchâs meeting the terms of the Deads complaints with Archive.org and regular expressions within mp3tag.

The Handsome Family have never been prolific, a few years between albums is typical, with occasional longer gaps. Itâs now getting onto 7 years and no new release. I think this is the longest wait in their musical career.
Few do dark country better than this duo. Iâve chosen to use the term dark country as opposed to the former term as I feel it best suits their style compared to many artists that sit comfortably in the realm of alt country.
I chose to play these two today.
Through the Trees (1998)
Arguably the litmus test for any Handsome Family release.

Unseen (2016)
( Their last release)
