Good choice! The instrument on this album is special…

I find it very hard to name one favorite release; even to make a selection of a few albums is a difficult task… But, here are four albums released in 2022, which I have enjoyed greatly…

All of the Scarlatti releases by Frédérick Haas are wonderful…

What a debut by this young English singer… what a voice!!! And how beautiful to select the theorbo as accompanying instrument…

Another great vocal release… and notable the difference in mood of these Italian late-Renaissance and early-Baroque pieces in comparison with the English pieces on the Helen Charlston–Toby Carr album… Just listen to Sigismondo d’India’s gorgeous Dialogo della Rosa… how beautiful!

As to string quartets, my favorite ensemble format, I’d have to give the nod to the conclusion of the German Armida Quartett’s Mozart cycle…

Super, anything with Scarlatti is a happy moment.
While I knew the Scarlatii of Frederick Hass (I wished there was a full collections of Scarlatti sonates by him) the others I did not know. Vocal music it is not my favourite but in some moments it has its way so I’ll give them a try. For sure I’ll jump on the Armida Quartett. Thank you Thank you

Bought this “hard-to-get-at-a-decent-price” CD via eBay which arrived today. Ripped and loaded. Likely the last album I listen to of 2022.
