I’m a long time Ropieee user, all in Flirc cases (and one Pi2AES).
What display & case should I use to maximize chance this is fairly seamless for me? I’m not going to do hardware hacking / case drilling. So I need both a display and stand that work together and are reasonably attractive. I see there are tons of low cost displays with integrated stands. And then the Display 2 doesn’t have an integrated stand. I presume the Display 2 official is the most likely to give the least headaches.
So what should I do? Just want to get started. Would love to stand on the shoulders of giants.
If you want to keep your Flirc case (cooling is much better), use an OEM display (1 or 2) and an OEM stand and connect them with a longer ribbon cable. Mine works great that way and the Pi4 is much cooler.
Hi- thank you @David_Gibson i can easily find the Display 2, but where is the official stand? Can you send me a link? I’m kind of lost. Seems like Adafruit etc sell the Smartipi which looks cute but has a fan…
In this scenario, the official stand can technically hold the RPi, but since the cooling is worse, I’d keep my Flirc case? Do you have to modify the Flirc case to pass the ribbon cable through?

I don’t believe there’s an “official” stand for the Display 2 and I’m not sure if it fits the stand for the Display 1. Maybe someone else on here knows. Anyway, you don’t need an official display stand for the Display 2. Any stand will do and there are several out there now that look pretty good.
Ok, I’m stilll confused though. Will the additional connectors / ribbon cables / etc that need to connect to the rpi4 fit through a flirt case without modification?
Typically, Pi cases are designed with a slot for access to the SD card. Usually the slot is also access for a cable to hook up a monitor, camera or other peripherals. Check your case and make sure there’s room for the cable. Mine’s an Akasa Gem Pro and it has plenty of room for a cable.
