Which HQP Filter are you using? [2015-2023]

How did you do this? I have an early production okto 8 with original firmware driving lx521 and I can not play dsd in hqp. Dsd is not even an option in roon.

PM me and we can discuss, as I think this goes off the thread topic. JCR

Am a newbe to HQplayer and I’ve setup HQP with roonlab ,
Details : DAC lampiztor Altantic SE
NUC i7
Configure HQplayer to DSD.
What’s the best HQ filter for DAC dsd256 & meaning of 1 x oversampling & N x sampling?
Current settings SDM
1 x oversampling. Nx sampling
poly-sinc-lp-2 sinc-M

This is in the user manual:

when you add the eq.txt into source channel 1 & 2 can I compensate for the pre-amp headroom in hqplayer or is it better to just turn up my amp?

I’d suggest turn up your amp this case.

Okay, this is my new fave:

You need to turn up your amp, because the headroom is there to avoid limiting/clipping on boost EQs.

Thanks to @Jeffrey_Robbins got multichannel dsd working with my okto8, this includes convolution filters. Can only go upto dsd64 as dsd128 will stutter.
@jussi_laako is 44.1 or 48 preferred for the Okto? Is there an optimum modulator for dsd64?

Okto 8 is a ESS Sabre DAC chip, right?
If so, I think the answer is going to start with the ASDM5 and if possible use the ECv2.

Finally sourced an R Pi 4B from r/AVexchange used cuz you can’t find em anywhere anymore. Getting closer and closer.

wow, this is excellent. thank you for your hard work and generously sharing

Is there a technical reason why my setting might sound better at a higher rate?

What DAC ?

Holo audio may

Go higher ! PCM1536 kHz!

Set DAC bits output to 20bits and LNS15 noise shaper

Don’t like, I like here. Just wondering about the measurements.

Yes, image levels drop significantly every time you double the sampling rate. 705.6k gives you already pretty OK result, but still clearly measurable images. At 1.5M rates those begin to disappear in the noise floor and you get fairly accurate reconstruction (if you also use recommended number of bits and noise shaper too).

Maybe it’s my ā€œgoldenā€ ears or my old age… but pushing the megas seems to stretch the sonics. I want timbre and timing…
