Why can't we copy these titles?

Suggestion - it would seem logical that you’ll be able to copy and paste the playlist sort that roon gives you as per this photo

So when you title smart playlist your actually using the Roon defined smart playlist - I’m assuming can this be done or do you have to manually type it out? I want to copy and paste the ALBUM FOCUS playlist defined title

Roon’s graphics engine is not text based, so no you can’t copy many of it’s elements. They chose this because it is much faster than other graphics techniques. Just compare your library view to something like JRiver. Much faster display on Roon.

Thanks very much David it was just more of a nice to have

But totally get your point

Ignore my advice, and check out @SBI ‘s post below.

If you’re on a Mac, you can screenshot any text element and use the built-in text ripper (blue thingy at lower right) to get hold of the text:

If your screenshots don’t pop up to let you manipulate them without having to dig around, hit command-shift-5 and turn on Show Floating Thumbnail in the Options menu.

I’ve been using a macOS app called TextSniper for a few years now. It’s not free (it’s a one-time purchase), but it works great, and no need for extra steps or screenshots. I use the CMD-SHIFT-2 keyboard shortcut for it (vs. CMD-SHIFT-3 or -4 for regular screenshots), and it places the captured text on your clipboard. I have no connection to the author / publisher, just a satisfied user.

Thanks! That’s very useful.

If you’re on Windows, then the built-in Snipping Tool also has a scan text function…

And thanks again. I just used TextSniper to great effect on a project, and it saved me quite a bit of time and annoyance. It “just works”.

Glad to hear it was helpful! I used to use it to copy & paste album names into Roon bookmarks, back before the Listen Later feature arrived, which reduced my bookmarks usage. Once I had it, I discovered I was using TextSniper multiple times per week for various items – if not multiple times per day.

Sadly Android phone. Still would be useful if feasible

The closest Android equivalents to TextSniper are “select-any-area on screen and OCR to clipboard” tools such as TextScan / Text Scanner, Universal Copy, and Google’s built‑in screen OCR (via Lens / “Copy text from screen”).
