That seems to be a bad implementation security-wise. A user-based installation (like Plex) should be preferable. Are there any specific reasons as to why Roon runs that way?
Do as you please, you just have to do it yourself.
Software with limited rights can’t do the required stuff and and how to give software the needed rights can differ between distributions. It seems that Roon Labs doesn’t have the resources to constantly test and adapt their software to a plethora of Linux distributions, all fighting to be different as to distinguish themself from the others and keep them relevant.
PS: It seems that in audio circles some specialized, non-free (and maybe not so open source) Linux distributions are in use on devices and available to buy for PC. While the maintainers can’t distribute Roon software without permission, they are free to maintain installation scripts for Roon Server that make it run under a restricted user account. IDK if any of them do though.
