Wifi7 and Roon

This sounds good i think…

Wifi signal strength and speed are not the only things that influence Roon’s performance. Even with a full bar of Wifi strength and 800+ mbit wifi connection between my router and Roon Server I’ve suffered from dropouts.

I’m living in an apartment block where everyone has at least 1 wifi router. So the signals interfere with each other as well. Only after going Ethernet did playing music without issues became possible.

Most streamers seem to have little problems connecting to Roon through Wifi. But the Roon Server is best off being connected through Ethernet.

Salut Christophe!

You keep saying you like WiFi a lot - but what’s the reason? Because you don’t have access to Ethernet where you want to put your Core? Or because you believe there’s a sonic benefit? One of the great advantages of the core / endpoint separation is that you can put your core wherever you want. Mine is in my server closet, just next to my router & primary switch, connected by sturdy ethernet.

I just installed a Unifi XGS AP and joined the WiFi 7 club. If you have any questions please ask.

I did it for greater wireless throughput to my NAS and not roon though.

Hello,
I have good news.
I have been able to replace the wifi card ax201 of my fanless nuc11 by an ax210 wifi card. That means i have a better bandwidth. From 1,3Gbit/s before to 2,4Gbit/s now.
I think it is a good point for the sound quality!
