Will cloning SSD installed with Rock possible?

Instead of installing from ROCK image, would it be possible to clone an SSD already installed with ROCK, and then put the cloned SSD onto a new NUC ?

Cloning should work, but it seems like more a hassle to do this (install the M.2 in another computer and then clone, then install into the NUC etc) than just do a fresh install, to me anyway.
Seems like 6 of one and half dozen of another as far as the steps go with fresh install having less hassle and just needing a DB backup restore. YMMV and IMHO

Thanks for the note. The reason I am asking because a friend of mine is encountering the “Welcome to GRUB” situation while installing Rock onto a new NUC 13 PRO. Still not successful after many attempts.

I am running Rock on a NUC 8. If cloning will work, I could make a clone SSD to save him from the failure.

Anyway, not sure if the difference in hardware will prevent the cloning SSD from working properly.

Ok, that makes sense, try it and let us know.

Have you tried resetting the BIOS to default and then checking all the steps to setup the BIOS per the ROCK install guide? Also, is the BIOS updated? Not that the BIOS update should be needed but… couldn’t hurt?

Edit: Also make sure you are using UEFI mode in the BIOS.

Cloning a NUC8 SSD for a NUC13 won’t work because the latter requires EFI.

Thank you. You are right. Just cloned and the SSD doesn’t work.
Probably can’t find an EFI image to clone. :sleepy:
