It would be awesome if Roon could be available in cars running Android Automotive. Any plans to offer that? Polestar, Volvo, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Rivian, Maseratti, and Lucid, run on this OS.
Hell yes please
It is in beta now on the early access track.
Hi, I don’t believe your statement is correct ( unfortunately).
I don’t see Arc in my AA.
I do run RoonARC early Access and AA beta.
I believe the Roon Team have not yet issued their AA app to Google.
They’ve issued it but there’s been a version problem in the play store so the roon staff builds contain it but the public builds don’t.
Are there any plans to port the android app to android automotive? That would be very nice!
Yes it’s in early access all ready
Android automotive is different to android auto.
Automotive is the whole control system of the car.
Android Automotive OS
Android Automotive OS is an Android-based infotainment system that is built into vehicles. The car’s system is a standalone Android device that is optimized for driving. With Android Automotive OS, users install your app directly onto the car instead of their phones.
Didn’t know there was a different thing thanks.
I think a Volvo ev was the first to use it a while back.
Now it’s spreading
Absolutely agree. Having Roon ARC available on Android Automotive OS would be a game-changer for music lovers who care about high-quality streaming and library access on the road. With more vehicles now running Android Automotive natively (like Polestar, Volvo, Renault, Cadillac, Lucid, and others), the demand for seamless integration is only growing.
I’m currently driving a Renault Megane E-Tech, which runs Android Automotive OS (OpenR Link), and I’ve noticed that Roon ARC isn’t available in the Play Store for this platform. It would be fantastic if the Roon team could consider publishing ARC for Android Automotive so we can enjoy our personal libraries and high-res streaming directly from the car’s infotainment system, without needing to using Android Auto or to tether.
Please consider adding Roon ARC to the Android Automotive Play Store, there’s clearly a passionate user base ready to embrace it!
Totally on board. I have a Polestar2 and would love that functionality.
