The performance of WLAN USB-adapters is often limited because of their small form factor (heat problems, antenna space/orientation, …). If you want good performance, use a WLAN bridge or an WLAN access point that can be configured in bridge mode also. Advantages: No OS support needed, generally better WiFi performance, ability to connect several devices (if the bridge has multiple ethernet ports or through combination with a switch). See also:
