Stratocasters get all the attention, but Telecasters speak more to me. Not sure why; it is what it is. Maybe it’s because I love Marty Stuart.
It’s almost inarguable that Jimmy Page’s solo in “Stairway to Heaven” is the best-known of all Telecaster solos…but there are others, and I wanted a place to discuss and share them.
Page and Stuart aside, to kick things off, here’s a much lesser-known song with what I think is an impeccable Tele solo (@2:15):

Cold, Cold Feeling I think shows the Telecasters tone really well.
Keith’s solo on Fool To Cry from Paris, 1976; played on his black Tele Custom through a wahwah pedal.
Most of Rory Gallagher’s slide work was played on a Tele or an Esquire, both were modded at various times; he was not precious about his guitars.

I don’t remember if it was a telecaster or a Stratocaster.
But I do remember that it had a heart of chrome, and a voice like a horny angel…
