My Roon Set-up:
Roon Core running on an old MacMini (Linux, SSD modified) in a cupboard.
A RaspBerry Pi / HifiBerry / Ropieee player connected to an Advance Audio PlayStream A7 (using the lovely DAC in the PlayStream).
Plus a Bluesound speaker in my kitchen, and a small set of JBL Control ONE speakers connected to a Carot One and Bluesound node 2i on my desk (both streaming Roon, while the set-up on my desk also plays PC sounds/music via an optical connection).
