Describe the issue
Hello I use a Mac mini processor M2 as a Roon server. Is connected to a Melco switch N100 which is connected to a streamer Melco N1 Ex roon ready with is connected to my amplifier Max Intosh Ma12000. My files are on Qobuz. When I read a 96 kHz file everything is ok When I read a 192khz the file is interrupt about 15 sec after beginnings. When the output is selected via roon to the Mac mini loudspeaker the 192 kHz file is ok. All my cables are changed for very high quality.
The music stops not because of Qobuz. The file downloads fine (speed ~6800 kbps, more than enough). The problem is between the Mac mini and the MELCO N1.
We also found two things pointing to the cause:
1. Unstable network. About 15 minutes before the dropout, Roon logged two network reachability changes on the Mac mini (at 15:41 and 15:44). This could be an unstable cable, the Melco N100 switch renegotiating the link, or macOS switching between Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
2. Unstable clock on the MELCO N1. Roon constantly syncs timing with the N1, and across several days of logs the N1 clock regularly drifts to thousands of ppm instead of the normal under 5 ppm. At 96 kHz this goes unnoticed, but 192 kHz is twice as demanding on clock accuracy.
Things to check:
Is Wi-Fi on the Mac mini fully disabled in System Settings (not just without an IP address, but actually turned off)?
Try connecting the MELCO N1 directly to the Mac mini, bypassing the N100 switch. If 192 kHz plays fine that way, the switch is the problem.
Update the MELCO N1 firmware to the latest version.
