Description of Issue

When clicking on the add button (+), it sits and spins, even after analysing/identifying is complete. maybe 1 in 10 times it turns into a heart where I can then favorite the album. This is adding from qobuz. I have heard from other members on different hardware that they’ve been having the same issues for awhile, so I think it’s fair to get this in front of the tech support/developers.

I have seen some people say it works perfectly for them as well, so it doesn’t appear to be happening for every single user.

this has randomly stopped happening for me mostly but I’ve folks whove had this problem since 2017. I’d like to bring it to the devs attention so they can help make roon better for everyone. Happy to assist in trobuleshooting but it seems it happens for folks with completely different setups.

are any of the roon team going to pay attention to this? I posted ten days ago. I was told that the roon team monitors the forums

I used to have this problem before, even when I had a small library. Mine was eliminated by:

Switching everything to Ethernet

Swapping storage to a directly attached storage (not applicable for Qobuz albums)

Changing my DNS to 1.1.1.1 with 8.8.8.8 as a backup

Installing an unmanaged switch - wired everything into that

One other thing worth noting is the core requirements:

Roon suggests the following minimum requirements for libraries over 100k:

“Other options include ROCK or Linux running on an Intel Core i7 or i9 CPU, Windows on a Core i7 or i9 CPU, or macOS on a Core i7, i9, or Apple Silicon CPU.”

Even though your NAS is fairly beastly for a NAS, it still falls under Roons suggested minimum requirements. Might be worth trying out a different core device to see if that resolves it.

Roon also explicitly advise against using a NAS as a core because of the performance problems it can introduce:

You know, I considered it may be something to do with my NAS components, but since then I’ve seen multiple other people describe having the problem who have hardware that more than matches the minimum requirements.

The problem is, it’s all speculation until a member of the team can chime in and so far I’ve not seen any of the team reply to any of the posts about this.

I do have everything wired using 10g. My DNS was 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4. I’m changing now to your suggestion to see if it helps.

As for my switch it’s unmanaged.

I honestly think it’s a bug, it just seems like everything points to something that can be fixed in an update. I just wish one of the team would join the party and at the very least add some context, if not get this in front of someone who can debug

Yup, definitely better to have someone from support have a look at it.

Only other thing worth trying while you wait is installing on another device that has an SSD and a stronger CPU (if you have one around).

Obviously take a full backup beforehand but you can then see if it is the NAS or if it’s something else.
