Advantage of separating the server part and Streamer Roon +HQ Player

Hello Jussy
Best wishes for 2022.

I just built an Audio Server based on Windows Server 2022 optimized with Fidèlizer Pro , Process Lasso and Minority Clean:

  • Motherboard MSI MAG B550M
  • AMD Ryzen 7 5700 G
  • 16 GB Crucial 3200 MHZ DDR4
  • JCAT NET Card XE
  • PINK FAUN USB card
  • SSD NVME WD 850 with OS W Server 2022 + Roon + HQplayer installed

Currently I drive Roon server with an iPad and I wanted to know if it was more judicious to change the Pink FAUN USB card by the last JCATUSB XE card to improve the signal towards the DAC or to separate the Server part and the Streamer part on another PC

Thanks for your answer

What rates are you hoping to achieve with HQPlayer?

You are likely pretty fine with the system as it is now. You could try some NAA if you like. But the question is then what kind of NAA would you use?

Hello,

currently I am in DSD 256 convolution on the filter

  • Oversampling : Poly-Sinc-Gauss -xla
  • Modulator : AMSDM7 512+FS
  • Bitrate : 44.1 x 256

I work without worries no cuts, in DSD 512, the processing is heavier and I start to have jerks.

Hello Jussy

I think I have reached a balanced system.

however I need some clarification

what do you mean by NAA and what is its principle

is it a termination point?

I don’t understand exactly this link in a dematerialized system

thank you for your feedback

Please check the PDF manual… It is explained there near the beginning.

hello Jussy

now that I have tested it, I am convinced of the benefits of HQplayer with Roon,
I have just taken the official license, thank you Jussy for the audiophile quality of this software

by quickly browsing the Guide, I see that on the screenshot,

the bitrate is : 48 X 256

and on the configuration of my server,

the bitrate is: 44.1 x 256

which one should I use?

what would be the optimal options for my configuration?

as for the NAA, I will read the 47 pages !!!

Sincerely

Jluc

With recent Denafrips USB interfaces, you can (but don’t have to) set the “48k DSD” flag for output device and use 48k x256 as limit. But note that this makes difference with your current setting having “Adaptive output rate” grayed. It means that the set rate limit is used as output rate if possible with the given filter. And given your filter selection it is always possible and thus output rate would be constant 48k x256 instead of current 44.1k x256. If Adaptive output rate is set to checked, then output rate would be switched based on source content rate.
