Hi there, I have a Roon NUC to Meridian 210/7200s in the living room and would like to get a compact end point for the bedroom - was thinking of a Tivoli Audio Model 1 or 2 but it’s not Roon tested. Grateful for any similar endpoint recommendations, thanks !
I adore the JBL Authentics series for things like this:
https://www.jbl.com/authentics-topnav/
They are Roon Ready and can be EQ’d so they sound amazing. I don’t use the smart speaker aspect at all.
The Denon HEOS Home Series 150,250 and 350 are ROON ready and very suitable for this purpose (I have 250s in each bedroom and am very happy with them). Watch for offers or indeed refurbished models…
The soundbars are not ROON ready.
I’ve been very happy with this and it looks great. There are some small disadvantages, but overall I’m very happy with it. More details in the post. Klipsch The One II with Google Voice Assistant as a Roon end point - first impressions
Thank you all for the great tips I’ll start looking into them !
If you are in the Apple ecosystem, a pair of the second gen HomePods would make a decent stereo bedroom setup.
If you have space for them.
I’d suggest you also take a look at the Sonos range of speakers.
Thanks everyone for the advice. I chose a Denon Home 250 for the bedroom - the clincher was that all its functional lights can be switched off so it doesn’t interfere with sleep. Hope this helps others with their choice too.
Good thing to note… The JBL Authentics do not have lights at night either, FWIW.
Hey there and all, I’ve noticed that when playing on the Denon from Roon the output has static and popping noises. Could this be due to some signal interference ?
No. Can you show your signal path while this is happening?
Here it is. Popping and ticks on every track. The core is a home put together small box, I wonder if I should get one of the Roon Nucleus
Is your core hard wired?
In Roon settings under the Services menu, set Tidal to HiFi (not Max) and try again.
The Home 250 is down sampling from 96 to 44.1 for some reason.
So trying it with 16/44.1 is part way to finding the cause.
I’d also try rebooting your router, Roon Server and then Home 250 in this order.
Is the Home 250 connected via Ethernet or WiFi.?
Thanks it is connected using WiFi. I have an Ethernet point in the bedroom so I could connect it to that to try and establish a wired connection to the router and then to the core.
It wouldn’t be some sort of interference from the core itself ?
Very unlikely.
I’ve encountered similar before, not just with Roon.
A reboot of everything in the chain of equipment generally resolves these kind of things.
But I’m curious if on an Ethernet connection if the down sampling stops.
