After most recent update, Roon continuously locks up

I don’t see any respectful help or helpful advice for other customers here

You get documented support also directly from support (look in your profile it is public!)

You think that increasing the load on audio analysis solves problems…

You don’t want help here…

Have fun in this community I am out

My Dell video drivers were up to date also. However, the video card manufactures have newer drivers that your computer manufacture doesn’t have.

I’ve only been using Roon about 45 minutes so far today, but no lock-up’s yet. This MIGHT be the answer.

EDIT: Screen locked up again, but only for a few seconds. So, it’s better but not as it should be or used to be. Roon has changed something for the worse.

mine locked up again too. I havent installed the latest upgrade, not sure which on you are on (or if that matters) but thought i would toss it out there. Does yours keep playing while locked up? mine does but requires a hard close (via windows processes) and restart.

You need to see the specific video card/cards your computer has and look for the drivers for that specific model. There is always some risk when you install a driver that is not what your computer manufacture is showing.

The music keeps playing because the Nucleus is not impacted. You can shut down all your control devices and the music will continue.

I think the updated graphics/video card drivers has solved this problem for me. I downloaded them from Intel and NVIDIA. I think my laptop probably only uses the Intel with Roon.

EDIT: Just lost audio. Clicked on stop, then start and audio started up again. This is a different issue than the screen lockup’s I’ve been experiencing.

I, too, updated graphics and video card drivers. I went a whole day without a lockup/freeze but just this morning, after opening roon. It locked up … AGAIN. Same as before

Only one lock up today. I guess i should feel fortunate.
Seems like the same error notification from windows.
Its not a video driver issue and it appears as if its only one or two others so not a roon bug but something associated with my machine (nothing has changed, i have even kept the roon version the same)

Hey @cd_gibson,

Please post your support requests in the Support channel to ensure they aren’t missed.

Sorry to hear about your issues with the latest build.

Ultimately, this is an underlying issue with your Windows installation. It’s not an issue with Roon, but rather an issue with some dependency that the Windows installer is looking for.

You may want to ensure that you have Visual C++ redistributable installed and, if so, then uninstall, reboot, and re-install. Can you please verify that you’re on the latest version of .NET, and don’t have previous copies (2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.5, 4.1, etc) installed?

If that doesn’t work you’re going to need to contact Microsoft with those error codes for support on this one, hopefully the code is something they’ve seen and have experience with.

Thanks!

It appears as if you didnt read my thread which is fine as i wasnt looking for help but instead just flagging as it appears many people are having a freeze/crash problem and i wanted @support to add me to that list if they are trying to measure the magnitude of the problem.
I do not have the most recent update of roon installed. I have learned after the prior updates and all the problems subscribers have experienced it is best to be patient and wait. I learned this same thing many years ago from MS Windows. Let all the early adopters work out the bugs and then install later. Thi strategy seems to be working well here too.
I do have C++ redistributable installed.
There is nothing else on this server, it is dedicated to roon only.
Yes, i am on the latest version of .net but i would ask if you read my post above yours as stated in that thread i have the most recent installed but in the windows event viewer log I posted, it shows a prior version. (yes, the other versions are still in their folders within the windows .netframework directory but how do you know if they are installed?). Windows does not remove older versions when installing updates. Why is roon looking at the prior version of .net if the most recent is installed.
PS - this crash/freeze issue started without any updates to roon or windows. I have never had this issue before. Now it occurs multiple times a day.
