AirPlay 2 not working on any of my devices

I’m unable to use Roon via AirPlay 2 on any of the HomePods or Apple TVs in my network. I have a couple of stereo pairs and some standalone HomePods - all of them show up correctly in Roon as devices and can be enabled, but playback never starts.

I have a mesh of 2 Eeros. Playback via other devices/apps works fine and my network isn’t exhibiting any other obvious issues.

Not sure what I can to do diagnose the issue. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

@jimbo, what build version of Roon are you using for Roon Server? Are all of these Apple devices installed in the Apple Home app (I’m assuming as you mentioned some are configured as stereo pairs), but want to confirm. Also, do you have an AirPlay password set for these devices?

There are many threads about AirPlay with Roon’s recent addition of AirPlay 2 support. Two of just a few of them are listed below, others can be found by searching the Community:

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It led me to a solution. I was looking in the Home settings and realised I needed to allow “Anyone On the Same Network” to control audio - Play audio on HomePod using an iOS or iPadOS device – Apple Support (UK)

I had previously set it to “Only People Sharing This Home”.
