Hi there, I’m running 15+ Sonos devices across my property and am just switching to Roon vs native Sonos support. So much learning for me in this ecosystem but I was specially wondering how to stop this:
When I take my AirPods out - connected to my laptop - all audio in the house stops. Looks like this user had something similar. The answer - very much appreciated as it is! - feels like a hack. Is there a way to shut down AirPlay and all the rest to just rely on SonosNet?
Hi @jakegoat,
Thanks for writing in to ask about this issue. I would advise trying what @bearFNF suggested and let us know if you are still having issues.
Unfortunately I use that AirPod functionality all the time for work so disabling it isn’t an option. It feels like the problem is tied to the OSX Roon client - isn’t there a fix to be made there?
The particular behavior unfortunately depends on the order of operations - it’s handled by MacOS and is largely outside of Roon’s control.
When the Airpods are removed with an active BT connection, they instruct MacOS to send a pause command from system controls to active applications, similar to hitting the Pause button on the keyboard. When the BT connection closes before the removal is detected by the AirPods (ie. closing Roon or disconnecting the BT in MacOS settings), then the Pause command doesn’t happen. It’s a laborious workaround. Development can’t influence the behavior of MacOS, but please put in a Feature Suggestions and the Product team will investigate if there is further action we can take to improve this behavior for users.
