Album art and song information not displaying on Eversolo T8 with HQPlayer NAA (ref#LNJK0O)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· I have just bought an Eversolo T8 because it supports NAA. However, when I use HQPlayer from Roon with the T8 as the NAA endpoint I do not see any album art or song information on the screen of the T8 - what am I doing wrong?

Tell us about your home network

· I use a ubiquiti network with various hardware. I have no VPNs

You expect it to show metadata information. Roon does not pass such information to HQPlayer though. See also:

Hello @Conrad_Winchester,

Thank you for reaching out to Roon Support.

As BlackJack correctly pointed out, you aren’t doing anything wrong—your system is actually working exactly as currently designed!

According to our documentation:

“In all these configurations, HQPlayer owns the final connection to the device, and Roon is just passing along a stream of bits from your media files. This allows you to enjoy the processing benefits of HQPlayer and the library management capabilities of Roon at the same time.”

Because of this architecture, Roon only sends the raw audio stream to HQPlayer. We do not pass along any metadata (such as album art, artist names, or track titles) in that specific data handoff. Since HQPlayer is the application directly communicating with your Eversolo T8 (acting as the NAA endpoint), the Eversolo only receives what HQPlayer gives it—and HQPlayer doesn’t have the metadata from Roon to pass along to the screen.

If you’d like to see metadata passthrough to HQPlayer added in the future, we highly encourage you to add your voice or create a new topic in the Feedback > Feature Suggestions section of our community forum. Our product team regularly reviews that section for future roadmaps.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about this setup!
