Album group and primary album setting

Content you’re reporting an issue with

Local library albums which actually has two different type (stereo and multi channel) and identified as same album by Roon, but I put different album title on it in order to identify which is which.

Have you made any edits to this content in Roon?

Especially multi-channel album, I put “(MC)” string on end of album title. But not any edit on stereo album.

Is the album identified in Roon?

Most of it, identified by Roon.

Is this content from local files, TIDAL, or Qobuz?

Description of the issue

My library, these albums are showing independently. Because album title is different, I put string “(MC)” on end of multi channel album title, and when I search with keyword “(MC)” I can see only multi channel albums.

But with this setting, Roon generated playlist show these multi channel albums default, not stereo albums. So these songs get downmixed when I listening.

So I want group these albums and make stereo album as primary, and I set it as shown billow screenshot.

First select album, click versions, select stereo version and make it primary. Then, I am not able to search same album by “(MC)” keyword anymore. Album disappeared on this keyword search list as below image.

If I manually search album title and click versions, I can see multi channel album but no way to easily search by my own keyword. So I click “remove from this group” for delete primary album set, then I can see album again by “(MC)” keyword search.

Main question is, why Roon generate suggested playlist always uses this multi channel album? Also even tidal playlist, if I press “Improve quality” without checking it, it changes track to multi channel album if it exist on my local library.

How can I make Roon to use stereo tracks as default and prevent multi channel to be selected, without grouping? Because when group it and make stereo album as primary, I can’t use my keyword to search multi channel album anymore as I explain.
Because my every day and primary listening environment is hi-fi stereo, but multi channel I enjoy with different device and at special occasion, not daily listening…
