Thanks for writing in! Good to see you on the community. We were able to review a fresh Roon Server diagnostic report from your server, and can see exactly what’s happening.
The stalling isn’t coming from your wider network or from Roon’s queue logic. It’s specific to your Raspberry Pi endpoint (the one feeding the Naim NDS). Throughout your listening session, the Pi’s Roon Bridge kept losing its connection to Roon Server and reconnecting, dozens of times over a couple of hours, while your other endpoints stayed stable.
The logs even caught it in the act: a track froze about two seconds before the end and sat there until you skipped it manually, which matches the “plays fine but won’t continue” behaviour you described. Because Roon still thinks the track is playing, it never advances to the next one on its own. It only affects some transitions because it depends on whether the connection happens to drop right as one track ends.
The important clue is how it drops, the Pi stays reachable on the network, but its Roon Bridge briefly stops responding. That points to the Pi itself (or its Bridge software) rather than your Gigaclear router or Cisco switch, so that’s where I’d focus.
A few things to try, roughly in order:
Update the Pi's Bridge software. If you're running RoPieee, DietPi, or similar, install the latest version and reboot. Bridge crashes/restarts like this are often fixed by an update.
Check the Pi's power supply. An underpowered or marginal PSU is a very common cause of a Pi's services dropping intermittently. If you have a known-good official supply, try it.
Check the SD card. A tired or failing SD card can cause the same symptoms, reflashing the Bridge image onto a fresh card is a good test if the above doesn't help.
Swap the cable and switch port. Move the Pi to a different port on the Cisco switch with a different Ethernet cable, just to rule out a flaky connection on that one run.
Make sure there's only one Bridge instance. If a second Roon Bridge or RAAT instance is running anywhere on the network for that output, it can cause exactly this kind of flapping — worth confirming there's just the one.
If it's still dropping after updating the Bridge and confirming power, reflashing the Pi is the cleanest way to isolate software from hardware. Let me know how you get on and I can dig further if needed.
