Albums Alphabetical sorting order and international articles

Hi,

I have a question about articles and compilation album sorting. “The Greatest Rock Songs” will be sorted at “G”, ignoring “The”. But “Les grandes chansons rock”, will be sorted at “L”.

From browsing the forum here I found that there’s a custom sort field you can enable for artists, which allows you to override this behaviour on an artist-per-artist basis. However I don’t seem to find a custom sort field for albums.

Also, JRiver (from which I’m transitioning), had a setting where you could specify which articles you wanted ignored for sorting, for example, I could add “The; Le; La; Les; Der; Die; Das”. Any plans for such international support options in the future? Enforcing only The and ignoring the rest is very English-centric.

I’ve found that Roon ignores indefinite articles (A and An) on an inconsistent basis. Better known artists/groups such as ‘A Guy Called Gerald’, ‘A Tribe Called Quest’, ‘A Certain Ratio’ and ‘A Taste Of Honey’ get filed appropriately while lesser known artists such as ‘A Minor Forest’ and ‘A Grave With No Name’ get filled under the letter A. I suppose it would make sense to generalize the idea to make it configurable and to include the definite articles in various languages.

For the „other language“ case there is also this (though the OP didn’t mention if they meant albums, artists, tracks, or all of them):

it would be great, if the list of ignored articles could be edited and articles of other languages than English could be added. At the moment it seems, that only ‘The’ is ignored.
